A Day of Discovery: Our AEIS Preparatory Students Visit Science Centre Singapore

July 17, 2026

At Nanyang Asia College, we believe that great learning doesn’t only happen within the four walls of a classroom. That’s why our AEIS (Admissions Exercise for International Students) preparatory students recently swapped their textbooks for test tubes and exhibits, heading out to Science Centre Singapore in Jurong for a hands-on day of exploration.

Why a Science Centre Trip?

Preparing for the AEIS is no small feat. Our students spend countless hours mastering English, Mathematics, and building the study habits needed to succeed in Singapore’s mainstream education system. But beyond the exam syllabus, our goal is to help them fall in love with learning itself — and to feel confident and curious in their new academic environment.

A trip to the Science Centre, conveniently located near our college in Jurong, offered the perfect opportunity to:

  • Reinforce Science and Mathematics concepts through interactive, real-world exhibits
  • Build English communication skills in an informal, engaging setting
  • Encourage teamwork, curiosity, and independent exploration
  • Give students a fun, memorable break from intensive exam preparation

    Exploring the Exhibits

Our students moved through the galleries in small groups, guided by our teachers, stopping to explore exhibits on physics, biology, energy, and the human body. Many enjoyed the interactive stations where they could test hypotheses, run experiments, and see scientific principles come to life — a refreshing contrast to reading about them in a textbook.

For students preparing for the AEIS, moments like these matter. Concepts that once felt abstract on paper — forces, energy transfer, life systems — became tangible and easier to remember. Several students were seen excitedly explaining exhibits to one another in English, a small but meaningful sign of growing confidence in the language.

More Than Just a Field Trip

Beyond the academic value, the trip gave our AEIS cohort a chance to bond as a group. Many of our students are new to Singapore, adjusting not just to a new curriculum but to a new country and culture. Shared experiences like this help them build friendships, support one another, and feel more at home — all of which contribute to a stronger mindset heading into their exams.

Our teachers also used the outing as an opportunity for informal assessment, observing how students applied classroom concepts in a real-world setting and identifying areas where a little extra revision might help.

    Looking Ahead

At Nanyang Asia College, our AEIS preparatory programme is designed to do more than get students through an exam — we want to prepare them for a smooth, successful transition into Singapore’s mainstream schools. Enrichment trips like this one to Science Centre Singapore are a valued part of that journey, blending academic reinforcement with genuine joy in learning.

We look forward to more excursions like this in the months ahead, as our students continue their AEIS preparation with curiosity, confidence, and a stronger sense of community.
