Objectives:

The course is structured around clearly defined and measurable learning outcomes to ensure strong alignment between lesson content, teaching activities, and expected learner achievements. Each unit is systematically designed to develop Pre-Intermediate to Advanced English proficiency across grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and the four core language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Lessons are supported by recommended textbooks, in-class practical exercises, and audio-visual learning resources, ensuring an engaging, interactive, and academically coherent learning experience.

At the pre-intermediate level, learners build essential communicative competence through seven thematic units covering everyday contexts such as leisure, work, special occasions, personal appearance, travel, and ambition. Grammar foundations—including tense usage, modals, comparatives, and the present perfect are reinforced alongside vocabulary expansion and pronunciation practice. Each unit integrates task-based speaking activities, guided reading and listening exercises, and short writing assignments, enabling learners to develop confidence in functional English for daily and social communication. 

At the Advanced level, learners progress to sophisticated language use through seven further units focusing on complex grammar structures, argumentation, emotional expression, enterprise, self-improvement, communication strategies, education, and descriptive language. These units emphasize critical reading, analytical listening, persuasive speaking, and structured academic writing. By the end of the course, learners are expected to demonstrate measurable advancement from pre-intermediate to advanced linguistic competence, with the ability to understand extended texts, express ideas clearly in speech and writing, and apply English confidently in academic, professional, and social contexts.

Course duration：

This course consists of 14 Unit. All Unit will be completed within 6 months For Full time and 8 months for Part time                                              

Full time: There will be 5 days x 3 hours each week

Part time: There will be 2 days x 5 hours each week   

Schedule of the classes will be planned to suit the course’s needs.

There will be no classes conducted during public holidays and school holidays.

Minimum Entry Requirement:

Age: 16 years old

Language:

1. Completed English language at secondary 4 educational level with Grade C6 or better in English GCE O Level; or IELTS 4.5 (or equivalent) for entry into the pre-intermediate level; or

2. Internal Assessment: A score of 50% or higher on the Nanyang Asia College English Placement Test or

3. Completed 10 years of education with a pass in Secondary 4 Level or Grade 10 English; or

4. Score at least 60 in the English section of the National College Entrance Examination; or

5. Attain a minimum score of 350 in the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4).

English Language Proficiency Framework

Students must meet ONE of the following criteria:

        • Standardized Tests: GCE “O” Level English Pass, or IELTS 4.5, TOEFL iBT 34+, or Duolingo 75+.
       
        • National Exams (China): Minimum score of 60/150 in the English section of the Gaokao.

        • National Exams (India): Minimum 50% score in the English subject of the 10th Standard Board Exam.

        • Internal English Assessment: A score of 50% or higher on the Nanyang Asia College English Placement Test.

Academic Requirement:

Academic Entry Requirements (Equivalency)

Applicants must provide proof of completion of secondary education. The following are the recognized equivalents to the Singapore “Secondary 4” requirement:

Generally Completed the followings:

1. Secondary 4 or comparable secondary-level qualifications other relevant education systems.

Assessment Methods and Weightages:

• MCQ & Written Examination: A three-hour examination comprising 50% of the marks for the module.
• Assignment: Report or Presentation comprising 40% of the marks for the module.
• Attendance and Participation: 10%.

Course Completion & Certification:

Upon completion of the  14 Units, those who fulfilled the required attendance and pass all the assessments will be awarded a Professional Certificate in English

Attendance must not less than 75%（part-time) or 90%（full-time) and not absent without valid reason for more than 7 consecutive days.
